Who, What, When and Where Questions

Begin with factual questions and teach each thing one at a time. Do one a week: who, what, where, when

Find a simple story to read that is long enough for you to be able to ask lots of questions about

First week: WHO

Second week: WHAT and have at least a dozen who questions as well to reinforce learning.

Third week: WHERE and at least half a dozen who and what questions

o First ask questions that the answer can be found in a story
o Next ask questions that are answered in the story but not word for word. Have students write the answers
o Last ask questions that the answer are not in the story but can be answered inferentially.

For example
It was a bright, sunny day, with not a cloud in the sky.
What colour was the sky?
